The mission of the Erik Lerch Foundation is to assist families in the Mount Airy, Maryland area who are facing medical emergencies or life threatening medical conditions involving a child. To coordinate efforts to provide emotional and financial support to the families, and to promote character education in our schools.
Yes, unfortunately we have another child in Mount Airy who is bravely battling cancer. Her name is Jacqueline Hobbs and she is a student at New Market Middle School. Jacqueline was diagnosed late last year with neuroblastoma. She underwent surgery to remove a tumor from her back and has just recently finished her first round of chemotherapy that she began in January. Jacqueline is a sweet, outgoing young lady who is looking forward to beating her cancer and getting her long flowing red hair to grow back in. Please consider helping Jacqueline's family.
Many of you know Mackenzie and have been following her progress. She was battling her brain tumor while Erik was battling his lymphoma and they became friends who inspired each other to "Live Strong". Mackenzie is now facing a new challenge - Mackenzie's cancer has returned.
